You can use the Work Offline feature in the Grade Center to import and export grades to Excel. Each customizable column inside the downloaded Excel file has a unique identifier in its title; an example is underlined in red here: The unique identifier is required for each student and each column in the grade center. The unique identifier for a column is a column ID number (the number after the | symbol in the title) and the unique identifier used for the student is the student's username. Column ID numbers are generated by the system and should not be changed or removed because it will not be associated with an existing column if it is uploaded back into the course. Columns created in Excel that do not have a unique identifier will be uploaded as a new column in the Grade Center. It is recommended that you download a backup copy of your grade center if you plan on updating scores for existing columns.
